The Role
In terms of the people and the company, the placement was fantastic. In terms of the actual work and the department I was in I didn't always enjoy the work I was doing but the majority of it was OK
You could not ask for a better company to work for in terms of the people and the way the company is run. Felt like a large family and was made to fell part of it from day one.
The people were the best thing about the placement. My manager (and other colleagues) were always really enthusiastic about helping me learn new skills.
There was never a boring moment, I always had a continuous flow of work. There were some days where I felt a bit overloaded but the rest of the team would always step in and help out.
Once I got settled in and got to know some of the customers, I ended up been the first point of contact for their queries and would handle the enquiry myself.
My technical skills improved massively, which isn't surprising given the work I was doing but I was surprised at how much my personel and oral communication skills improved. The heavy work load prepared me well for my return to University.
The Company
Absolutely brilliant. There was never a dull moment in the office.
Overall structure of the placement was great. The training at the beginning was well organised and detailed.
My manager and colleagues were very keen for me to learn as much as possible and take ownership of tasks. Regular personal development meetings were held through the placement as well.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
I was offered a job upon successfully completing my degree.
The Culture
Social life was excellent.
I was lucky to find good affordable accommodation. It can be an expensive area to stay in though.
Good nightlife, always enjoyed going out at the weekend
We were always meeting up outside of work. A five a side football team was also started during my placement.
