    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Challenging but rewarding. This placement will give you a great insight into what it is like to manage a team, a fleet, a business. A very good training file is put in place to ensure you learn all the key areas of the business and have a good understanding and confidence to become a succesfull manager.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All staff at Enterprise are extremely helpful, understanding, and motivating. As everyone goes through the same process, everybody understands you and you are always fully supported.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support is provided whenever needed. Branch and assistant managers are always on hand to help you with anything. Support is also available from anyone from head office, area managers etc.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Every day is different. You are always kept busy and will never get bored in this job. The job involves you being in th office and also out on the road.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • During stage 3 of your training file you are required to 'run the day'. This means managing the fleet of cars at your branch, and managing the staff on that particular day. Basically you are the boss! This gives you a great idea of what it is like to be a manager, and put all your skills and knowledge into practice.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills i have learned are very valuable. From customer service, to sales, to leadership, and many more! The list of skills you learn goes on and they are extremely helpful for the future.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere can vary day to day. Generally the atmosphere is very fun, lively and friendly. However, on more busier days the atmosphere can become more tense understandably.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised placement. You are given a training file which outlines everything you need to cpmplete in order to become a manager with Enterprise.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The area manager contacts you on a regular basis and gets updates regarding your file. Meetings are also set up so you can have stages signed off by your area manager. If you really want to kick on with your file it is importanr you regularly ask your branch and assistant managers.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been offered part time work with Enterprise whilst back at University. Many students are offered full time jobs with the company once they have graduated.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Branch sizes vary. I have been out with my branch on special occassions e.g. christmas. Bonuses are given based on branch performance and this can often lead to free meals and nights out.

  • Huddersfield is reletaviely cheap in comparison to many other towns/cities.

  • Wide range of bars and clubs to please everyone.

  • There weren't that many opportunities that i was aware of.
