    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Opportunity to interact with different areas of law and gain valuable knowledge about the different departments in the law firm. Greatly increased my knowledge about different areas of law and the distinctions between them (for example between Corporate and Finance law). We were able to speak to trainees at length about their expereince but also to interact with associates and partners.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The recruitment team were on hand to provide support and answer questions at all times. In addition each activity was run with the involvement of trainees and associates/partners who were more than happy to engage in conversation and explain things to you.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Valuable insight into the environment, atmosphere and work of a top commercial London law firm. I gained valuable knowledge about the application process, different areas of law, structure of the firm and what is expected of applicants. This will help me tailor my studies and extra-curricular activites and university as well as to produce better applications in the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • We took part in a variety of activites which encorporated many areas of law and lots of skills. One of the highlights for me was the departmental law fair which was very different to anything I have experienced previously but extremely insightful and I learnt a lot.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone was interactive and engaging. The people at HSF made every effort to ensure that the students were involved and participating. The students all took part and at the end everyone spoke about how useful and interesting they had found the workshop.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We took part in a variety of activities across the two days which will be greatly beneficial when applying for law workshops/jobs/applications in the future. These included workshops, trainee shadowing and information sessions as well as a networking event.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Through talking to trainees and associates you were able to gain an accurate impression of life as an employee of the firm. We spoke to a range of assoicates in different areas and who had been there for different amounts of time (therefore they were sitting in different seats). This really helped us to gain a good insight into the firm and what we would face should we successfully apply to HSF. Everyone was honest about the work load and didn't shy away from explaining what the more difficult aspects could be.
