    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I felt from day 1 that I was part of the team and that this was an experience for both the firm and myself to get to know each other better. My initial interview was friendly and I was made to feel comfortable. From the start of the scheme I was given work consistently and I was expected to participate and be part of a functioning team. It was hugely enjoyable and the social side of the placement gave me a good chance to interact with trainees, associates and partners.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Being mid way through my LPC I was able to undertake tasks that tested me and were of value to the firm. I saw work that I had completed being communicated to the client which showed the extent to which my work was valued. Obviously it had been checked by supervisor but nevertheless it made me feel that I was not just someone gaining an insight but a member of the firm and the team.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I had a wonderful buddy and supervisor who were exceptionally happy to help. As I was in a very busy department it was sometimes a struggle for my supervisor to give me work as she was exceptionally busy. When this happened there were plenty of other people willing to offer me jobs to do and guidance and at all times. There was no one who was unwilling to help out and the open door policy that my department seemed to have really helped to create a supportive environment.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills sessions that I attended were very useful in developing my presentation skills and I also attended a corporate training session that all trainees attend. I found this very useful and will help me in completing the LPC as it covered topics that I am currently studying.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • There was a clear structure to the scheme and the Graduate Recruitment team are always there to help if there are any problems. There were some problems in the timings of some interviews, however these were unavoidable due to the availability of parters and the amount of work on at the time.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The firm prides itself on its reputation as a friendly place to work and its ability to build strong client relationships. This is a reputation well deserved and comes across in the everyday atmosphere in the workplace. The office was a pleasant environment whilst maintaining a strong work ethic and the social activities that everyone is involved in after work stops are also incredible fun. It provides high quality work without the uptight work environment.

  • Trainees were always available to give insight into the role they did and 'lunch and learns' were provided that trainees attended. These gave us the opportunity to ask any questions that we had.
