    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. The week was full of engaging talks, activities, networking and shadowing, all of which helped me understand the business better and know it's right for me.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The company really invested in us during the week. Lots of people gave their time to present to us, network with us, organise the week and make us feel like we are the future of the firm.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Due to the nature of the week, an insight, we didn't do any work for the company and therefore didn't really need much guidance or support. The whole week was run smoothly though and if we ever had any questions there were loads of people to talk to.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Before coming to the bank, I had little idea of the main functions and operations of a bank. The week was really informative, and I learnt a lot about what a bank actually does, as well as how the technical skills I am learning during my degree can be used in finance.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The whole week was timetabled well and ran smoothly.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere at Bank of America Merrill Lynch was professional yet friendly. You got the feeling, speaking to employees, that the bank is a friendlier bank than a lot of their competitors.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested in us a lot during the week. We were given opportunities to learn about all operations, and speak to people in all positions in the structure of the company. A lot of effort had clearly gone into the week. Due to the nature of it being an insight though, we're obviously not going to get training and development like actual employees.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The work shadowing especially really helped as we spoke to graduates, many who had completed internships. This gave us the opportunity to learn fully about their experience with the firm in a less formal environment.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • There's no better way to understand the culture of a firm than to actually spend time there. Bank of America Merrill Lynch has a great friendly culture, much more friendly than I was expecting from an investment bank.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I now know that I want a career in technology in investment banking.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • All reasonable expenses are reimbursed

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were loads of opportunities to talk to employees throughout the week. There were plenty of Q+A panels and presentations, as well as less formal opportunities to talk to people over lunch, going out for a dinner, and work shadowing.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Lots of opportunities for networking and social events.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We learnt about the charities and projects that the Bank supports, as well as societies that people can join. There seems to be a lot of stuff to get involved with if people want to.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Without a doubt. The Bank of America Merrill Lynch insight was fantastic and I would really recommend anyone to go for it. There's no harm in applying.

    5/5
