  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Very well planned insight with events throughout the week. Great balance of formal office work, interesting site visits in various places in London, and the chance to network with graduates and senior members of the company.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I always had work to get on with, whether that consisted of compiling Valuations reports on a commercial space or independently visiting a proposed site for apartments in the Docklands.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Each Insight student was assigned a graduate mentor and placed on a desk close to them, so advice and help was constantly provided. Presentations were delivered throughout the week by senior members of the company and on a wide range of topics, including career progression, which was really useful.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As a non-cognate student I've learnt a lot about the various routes that can be taken into the industry. The scheme has definitely confirmed my desire to pursue a career in property and thus embark on postgraduate study in order to attain my RICS qualification.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Great balance of work in the office, outside on site visits, seminar-style presentations by senior Savills staff, and social drinks and lunches with graduates.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Extremely positive. All the students seemed to enjoy learning about one another and relished the opportunity to learn about the day-to-day life in a major property firm. The atmosphere in the office and during drinks and lunches was constantly an enjoyable one, and never did I feel overwhelmed or bored.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • improved my general computer skills, especially in Excel, and discovered important property-related websites and databases. Additional help was given whenever i needed it - especially as my mentor knew I had very little experience beforehand.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We were given the opportunity to shadow our mentor for a whole working week, and basically did the same things they did - and in a manner that made what you did feel worthwhile and appreciated.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • A very welcoming, hard-working and sociable culture with a good work/life balance.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Confirmed my aspirations to do postgraduate study in a property-related sector and gain my RICS qualification.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Travel expenses up to £150

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Constantly - I was in the main London office and placed in a team with staff of various positions and backgrounds. Presentations were delivered on a daily basis by various senior members of Savills on a very wide range of property-related topics.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Lunches and drinks were organised to give us the chance to network/generally socialise with graduates and senior heads of departments.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Not so much, but having spoken to a number of graduates there definitely is a very sociable culture in the company which encourages people to get to know each other a lot better.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • It does what it says on the tin - an ideal Insight Scheme for those who know and don't know whether they want to pursue a career in property.
