    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Extremely well structured. Mostly time spent in departments but with presentations from every practice group to enable us to get a feel for the whole firm and presentations on other aspects of life at the firm e.g. secondments, CSR etc.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Fairly serious but everyone was extremely busy while I was there. Everyone very cheery and pleasant to chat to.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They did a lot to make sure we had workshops in a range of skills relevant to law and gave us a range of exercises to complete to develop those skills.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • As a vac schemer, I was doing the work of a trainee in my department and therefore got a significant insight into the sorts of work I would be doing if I was there full-time.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 2 weeks isn't really long enough to understand fully the firm's culture, but I got a feel for the sorts of people who worked at the firm and its values.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Extremely informative presentations on different practice areas. I still don't know yet which I'm interested in but I feel a lot more informed about what's on offer and what life is like in each one.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • 250 pounds/week to cover expenses.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Lots of opportunities to meet trainees, though it tended to be the same ones who came to each event. Would have been nice to meet more associates.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The two socials we had were brilliant. One more event, with more opportunity for networking, might have been nice.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We found out a lot about the CSR opportunities, but there was no mention of the sports teams, music activities etc that I know the team has.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Brilliant. Came away with a very good impression both of the firm and of law as a career.
