    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Really enjoyable overview and insight into both Global Financial Advisory and Rothschild as a company.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • As an intern, I felt valued whilst I was on the programme. It was great to see Directors and other senior staff taking time out of their busy days to get involved and talk/network with us and then judge the group presentations at the end of the week.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • A lot. Any questions we had were comprehensively answered, and we had many opportunities to talk to staff at Rothschild (whether they be junior or senior).

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The group presentation (and a prior skills workshop for it) enabled everyone to work on their public speaking and presentation skills; vital for both my degree and later on in life. Talking to junior and senior staff enables you to improve your communication abilities and learn to speak to a wide variety of people. The various lectures and workshops which we took part in enabled us to learn more about GFA and Rothschild (useful if you want to pursue a career in this sector and at this Bank).

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured, with a whole host of things of to do each day; talks, networking events and a group task.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • All interns got on well, and there was a good atmosphere between interns and Rothschild staff.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Learned a great deal about the different parts of Rothschild's work and banking in general. Also attended workshops on IT, public speaking, work shadowing and presenting. Thus, there was a great emphasis on personal training and development.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Every member of staff I spoke to was frank about their role at Rothschild. Yes, the hours are long and the work hard, but you are amply rewarded, and the culture at Rothschild seems to be better than that of other banks (low staff turnover) and there is more of a focus on the long term.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • As stated above, the culture at Rothschild is very different to that at other banks. There is more of a focus on the long term (lower staff turnover, no draconian cuts etc etc). More specifically, the work shadowing part of the week really gave you an insight into the company.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • A lot of information was provided; most of which I didn't know before, and therefore the content of the week was very helpful in terms of helping me to decide on my future career path.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Travel expenses were reimbursed and food was provided every day.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Various networking opportunities took place (with recent graduates, third year analysts and directors) which were very useful in terms of meeting other employees of the company.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • As stated above, there were a variety of networking events with both junior and senior staff at Rothschild. Although there were not any scheduled social events, I went out with a friend who works at the firm and after the programme had finished a large group of interns went out.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, staff seemed to go out socially at least once a week. Also, one of the members of staff I shadowed played for the company football team and was involved in charity work which was related to the firm.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes.
