    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement. The amount of training I received was excellent. The job role is very exciting and I was not treated as a trainee as such, but a member of the team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was made to feel very welcome in all of the stores I visited. I built up very good relationships within all of the teams in which I worked.

  • I reviewed my performance weekly and received feedback about my performance; what I had done well and were I could improve.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were always jobs that required completion however I was never over burdened in my placement.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the opportunity to run and drive different departments as well as taking ownership of one of the KPI's in store.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have really developed some skills such as organisational and time management skills that I will have with me for life and will really aid me throughout my degree.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a very good atmosphere within my workspace and I built up good working realationships with all the staff.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There were a few points at the beginning where my placement was not well planned however this was only for a few days. Apart from this it was very well organised and I was aware of what I was aiming towards.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My line managers and store manager as well as my regional managers placed a lot of time in helping me to develop and providing me with feedback.

  • I have been offered a job during and on completion of my degree.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were other trainees within my intake and I got on well with them. We did only meet a few times however which could be increased to speak about experiences etc.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I had to drive a 50 mile round trip daily so petrol was expensive. Socialising was at my own leisure when I was free.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I tended to go out in Liverpool rather than Southport. This was mainly due to the distance from home. On the occasions when I did go out in Southport I had a good time.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Very few social gatherings however this was not a business issue but a perosnal issue i.e. whether you chose to socialise. When we did socialise it was very good.
