  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Brilliant, great variety of task - processing orders, manage a B2B system, assist with projects, reporting, dealing with suppliers

  • Not seen as "a student" but as part of the purchasing team

  • Very supportive, tried to give me opportunites wherever possible

  • Due to the variety of tasks always kept myself busy, taught me the important skills of managing my time and workload

  • As I went through my placement I was given more and more responsibility

  • Have allowed me to decide that purchasing is the right career path for me and will help greatly in my final year project/discertation as I can involve Prysmian in it.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Plently of people to talk to, all very friendly and helpful.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. There is a detailed schedule for the handover period which lasts about 4 weeks and there are regular review meetings with a "mentor" who is a previous student that has returned to work for Prysmian.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I went on a couple of courses and was offered others, I was always given opportunites to sit in on meetings or understand different areas of the department/business.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been fortunate enough to continue working part time whilst finishing my course and have also been offered a full-time role when I finish University.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All students would get together every lunchtime and would sometimes go for pub lunches. Various social events also orgainsed throughout the year.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I personally lived at home but I understand the cost is fairly standard

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Lots of pubs and clubs to visit.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a couple of football teams but other than this nothing I was aware of.
