    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed living in Dublin, great city. Enjoyed job but not 100% it is the line of business best suited for me.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As the placement progressed I was given more and more responsibility. After a few months I felt I had been there for much longer and people started to come to me for help. Was relied on to train new placement students for last two months of placement.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Work in small teams within the actuarial department and there is always somebody you can go to with queries and problems. Training happens largely at start of placement and then continuously throughout the placement, plenty to learn.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy! Actuarial department at Capita is very busy and there's always something to be getting on with. This means the days go fast!

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Increasing responsibility as I progressed through placement. Towards the end of the year had a large amount of responsibility including training new students.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although I'm not sure it's the right line of work for me I greatly developed many skills especially proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
