    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was an insightful look into a global law firm, helped me get a better understanding of the culture of the firm.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Others who took on the programme were very cooperative in the workshop sessions that we had - worked cohesively

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • On the day, I was able to speak to associates, recent graduates who had just joined, even partners! I really admired how open the people were at A&O.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Since it was only an open day, the schedule for that day was very intense - included shadowing a trainee, on top of many presentations about the areas of the firm.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • There was very little opportunity to take leadership in any capacity on the day.

    1/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As I am near completing a law degree, this really helped me gauge in my mind if I would ultimately want to continue along this career path.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It felt like a really vibrant office, the people that I did not have overly stressed looks about them. Additionally, the location at One Bishops Square was brilliant!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very ambitious to have packed everything into one day - gave us a full flavour of life at A and O by giving us the nitty gritty details of what it looks for when it considers taking on graduates.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Most of the day was geared towards this. Through mock business scenarios, it was a good indicator of what one who be involved in on a day to day basis

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am looking forward to taking part on the Winter Vacation Programme

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Did not really have a chance to socialise with participants outside of the event; from what I saw, it would have been enjoyable!

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The office was inbetween Liverpool Street and Brick Lane, so I suppose it counts as East London - thus accommodation in the area should not have been that expensive.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Shoreditch is just a couple of minutes walk from Broadgate - from past experience, this is an excellent place to have fun at night!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are lots - from what was said on the day. I was especially impressed by the facilities available to the staff on site. This includes a bar, a gym and roof-gardens!

    4/5
