    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I spent 3 weeks in the Real Estate department and gained a good insight of what it would be like to work there as a trainee.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • I sat with 2 associates who were both very helpful and gave me a good variety of work to do.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • I thought it was brilliant that we got to sit with associates as this would be the same for a trainee. We had both associate supervisors and partner supervisors - mine took me out for coffee and for lunch so that I had plenty of opportunity to ask questions about the firm.

    • I always had something to do as we had assessed projects set by HR as well as departmental work.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • I helped both trainees and associates with different tasks, often done only by me.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • We had both negotiation skills and presentation training - this was done as a group exercise with feedback afterwards.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • Everyone was very friendly and seemed to be happy at the firm, even though they were working long hours people were always cheerful.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • HR were extremely helpful, we knew exactly what we would be doing and we had a very good induction day.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • We had lots of departmental talks and training exercises including a written task for a partner; we also went on a trip to the Paris office.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    • All vacation scheme students could do an interview for a training contract while on the scheme.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • There were about 30 of us so it was a big group but there were plenty of socials so we got to know each other pretty well.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • Normal for London

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

    • The firm is very central and we went on socials to Brick Lane, Shoreditch and Chelsea.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

    • There was a good variety of socials which we were all encouraged to attend instead of staying in the office.
