The Role
I was expecting the ten weeks to be hard work and it truly was. That said, I genuinely felt that I was an actual employee rather than an intern.
Following on from above, my manager made a real effort to integrate me with his team. Despite not always having the best ideas, my views were heard!
My manager was great! Felt as if he wanted to use the internship as a chance to train me for a graduate role after graduation.
After the initial training and presentations, there was a lot to be done daily. However, I sat in on many meetings during those weeks
More than I had anticipated as I was an actual cog in the team
Learnt so much during the 2 months, a lot of the basic accounting I was familiar with, but the valuation techniques, some unique to Rothschild was new to me.
The Company
Hardworking - in a nutshell. However everyone I spoke to was really charismatic and very interesting to talk to.
It was clear from day 1 that this had been thought through extensively. Emerged from the internship with a wealth of skills.
There was a specific training course at the start of the internship, this was really useful for those who weren't doing a finance-related degree
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Am pleased to say that I have been fast-tracked to the graduate interview stage
The Culture
Everyone was quite busy through most of the internship, however a few of us made an effort to explore the London night scene
Lived quite central, so this was not cheap by any stretch. However we were compensated adequately.
London, perhaps, has the best nightlife in Europe. It was miles better than at uni!
There was a charity day, I thought this was so meaningful to be able to give back on the internship.
