    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really good! Edinburgh was a great city, the team was really friendly, the work was interesting and manageable - best summer so far!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Really well. Scottish people are so welcoming! Everyone in my team took time to get to know me as a person, help me settle in, invite me to everything they were doing in the first few weeks to make sure I had things to do!

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Really well. Everyone would come and check that I understood the work I was being given, explain where the project ties into there work and the wider departments work. This really helped me tie everything together and see the big picture

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It was a case of the team had enough workers to do all there work, so you were just there to try and help them out. You had to go out and find work yourself, so it was up to you how hard you found work, leading to how busy you are!

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • All the work you were given was simple tasks just to preoccupy your time, which meant you didn't have much responsibility at all

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As above, the work was really rather simple so work wise I didn't learn too much. My softer skills of working in a team, having co workers, working to a new city are definitely skills for life!

    2/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Really good. Loads of jokes, lots of pub visits, lots of sports going on at lunch times - really helped supposing I didn't know anyone in the city before the start of the internship

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Not that well, there was quite a bit of training in the first week which was really good and needed. However, work wise nothing was planned for me and it was a case of me having to go around and get work from the team

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The training in the first week was really good and since there was only a few interns, it meant the training was really personal so we learnt alot

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Got a job offer, but I'm not sure if I want to move to Scotland or not.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were only a few of us interns, but there were a quite a few graduates too, so we use to all go out on a Friday night and meet up over the weekend.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Scotland is much cheaper than London!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Edinburgh clubs were just as good as London clubs, loads of pubs and bars too!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yeah, the graduates had a really good social scene and would invite you along to things - football matches, pub trips, cinema trips etc..

    4/5
