    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I felt on the whole it was a worthwhile experience, and I enjoyed working with the firm.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The regular opportunities for feedback provided a formal sense of feeling valued, but more important was the constant informal feedback which was encouraging and positive.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • To a reasonable extent, although the office is structured so that you don't have one consistent manager, so the support and guidance comes from a variety of sources.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This is not a criticism of the firm, simply of the M&A environment over the summer. The sporadic frequency of deals means that there are some very quiet periods intermixed with busy periods.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a reasonable degree of autonomy over my work which made it more interesting, and as the placement progressed the responsibility I was given also increased.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This was the best aspect of the placement - I learned a lot about the deal process, and my commercial awareness really increased.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was a great place to work, and the highlight was a particularly fun departmental away day at a country hotel.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The majority was seamless, and I was able to extend it by 2 weeks which was fantastic.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They invested time in formal training, and all of the managers and directors took care in explaining background to projects to give context.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Good social scene, and good to have a group of people in the same boat during the placement.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Central London = very expensive.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good but very pricey, apart from one hidden gem of a pub.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Plenty of opportunities; I played for the Deloitte rugby team.

    4/5
