    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The best work experience I have ever had, top opportunity and actually had the opportunity to add a lot of value.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Was really close to the team, was in a team of 20 and was made so welcome straight away.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My direct managers were superb, they supported me through projects and gave me guidance on the work I was doing

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • To begin with I was swamped, as the same with all new jobs, however once I got used to the work and learned to manage my time better, the work got so much easier.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My the end of my year placement I was supervising a team of 6 professionals, monitoring quality and ensuring work was being completed, I was a 21 year old intern.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • basically every skill that is important at work I developed, people management, communication skills, presentation skills and team work, learnt more in my year placement than I have in 5 years post GCSEs.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It is a fast paced investment bank, work and top class service is what was expected, that is what we were giving. There was a good bit of banter in the office but we all knew the balance and got on with the work aswell.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think that the success of my placement was due to my drive and also the help of my management team, but I think this is what JPM aim for, if they were to hold your hand every day, you would get nothing done. Being on the grad scheme offers you the chance to build networks with global managers, get access to the entire company and interact with your fellow interns/grads.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Every bit of training that was available I made sure I was on it, this was from Database and Excel training to client service training and relationship building. I was treated as an asset and they invested heavily in me.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • if they like you they will give you a job when you finish University, there is no further assessment centres.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • there were always nights out/planned events among my team and interns. There were also events in the summer, Christmas and Thanksgiving (even though we are in the UK).

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was in their bournemouth area, I was paid 25% more than one of my friend's internship but accommodation is slightly expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • So many clubs and bars in the area, for whatever you are looking for.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Sport clubs and social clubs were offered for employees but also it was easy to get involved with other clubs.

    4/5
