Summer Analyst Review

I really enjoyed working for J.P. Morgan this summer. I learned a lot, saw many different parts of the business in only 10 weeks, and added some great connections to my professional network.

J.P. Morgan is a company who really values its employees. I felt respected, supported and guided every step of the way. The working environment is amazing.

People at J.P. Morgan really care about you, and although sometimes the workload is quite tough, the guidance from management I received was plenty and enough to help me obtain a job offer. With the weekly one-to-one meetings with my manager, I felt I was always heard, and guided throughout the internship.

I personally got very lucky with my team and the work/interest balance I obtained. Of course, some weeks I had more work, and some weeks I did not have much to do, but overall the balance was really great. Even though this balance may not always be there, do not take this as a permanent thing - as we work on many different projects over the 10 weeks, we get to experience a bit of everything, making working at J.P. Morgan an experience not to miss!

One of the good things t J.P. Morgan is that I was given responsibility from day one. However, it is important to remember that responsibility will not fall from the sky. When you arrive to the job on your first day, you have to tell and show your manager you want to be given responsibility, and not wait for him/her to give it to you. Some managers do, but most of them test you by waiting for you to take the initiative. So don't be shy and show them you are good enough!

Because the internship is a very intense 10-week program, I was constantly learning new things. Along with online training and face to face training through workshadowing sessions, I believe I developed some skills which boosted my confidence, especially in the professional world. This year, I have become an expert in excel for one, I am more confident when going in for interviews and my presentation skills have definitely improved!

Everyone in my office was very nice, and although it happens that there is a big age difference gap, i found that my team always treated me as a grown up.

The 10 week program had a bit of everything, and the 10 weeks flew by very quickly. Working on projects, work shadowing other interns and employees, attending professional presentations, assisting on team meetings, communicating on the phone on a daily basis and networking from morning tip evening - you get the whole package!

J.P. Morgan has access to thousands of training courses. They want to train you and invest in you because you are the future. I would say opportunities for training are incredible!

With interns from all around the world, I made friends for life.

London is quite an expensive place, but the pay compensates for it. There are hundreds of really nice bars/restaurants/clubs, very affordable and very social.

As an intern, it is important to understand that you will be working for an intense 10 weeks, so I did not find much opportunities or time for any activities outside of work. However, if you perform well and make an impression, you will very likely be made a graduate offer, and then, the pool of opportunities is definitely endless!
