    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a really valuable experience, and quite exciting though not always fun.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues were very willing to explain things to me, and treat me as a junior member of the team. I felt that my skills and contributions but above all my potential were valued.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone was theoretically willing to give me support and guidance, but often very busy.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was often either bored or extremely busy. However, I didn't feel too pressurised in the busy days, as the team were very supportive.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I think this is appropriate for my level of experience.

    1/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have yet to see whether or not these skills will assist me in my future career. However, what I learned already helps me to better understand and evaluate what I read in the news.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Quite quiet and work-focussed, no lunch break.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised, with many events, both educational and social, organised for the intern class. We really got to know each other over the ten weeks.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Many training events and talks were organised, and some really senior people came to speak to us, which was very enlightening and also encouraging to see that the firm places high value in its incoming talent.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I wasn't offered a job with them because my team wasn't hiring. I received very positive feedback, however, and my managers offered to organise internships with other desks, but I turned them down.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, there was a good social scene amongst fellow placement students, but not so much amongst colleagues.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Canary Wharf -- pretty expensive!

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Everyone went home after work anyway, unless there was an organised social event.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The gym was really good, with a great offering of classes which could be an opportunity to get to know people outside of work. Nothing else caught my attention.

    2/5
