    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I loved the internship, being part of the J.P.Morgan culture. It was everything I expected and maybe even more than that.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt I was part of a team, rather than an intern. The team members were helpful enough to answer my questions and to dedicate time to explain concepts to me and once they felt I had understood well enough, they, as well as members of others teams, came to me for help and I worked along side with them, as if I had been working there for far longer than just a few weeks.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor was constantly aware of my work and progress and dedicated time on a weekly basis to see how I was doing. He gave me feedback and encouraged me to perform better and better,

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Generally, it was well balanced. There were a few days maybe that might have been a bit slow, but that did not interfere with the actual internship. I would say that any role might have days like that and it was just part of the work flow between teams.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given enough responsibility, I was learning every day and I got to feel equal to people that had been working on the team much longer than I was. My team had the confidence that with supervision I was capable of learning fast and of showing my qualities. Once I had learnt enough, my workload was similar to any other member of the team.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe that after this internship, the skills I have acquired could be easily transferable to any similar role in any other company and maybe to some different roles, as it gave me the confidence to ask any question without fear of sounding silly, to communicate with people of different backgrounds and different ideas etc. The list is endless.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I would say it was perfectly balanced. The people knew how to keep the atmosphere enjoyable even in stressful times, to concentrate on getting the issues solved.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall internship program was very well organised. However, there was a mentoring program that did not have the desired effect on all interns and resulted in a bit of a chaos. Some interns didn't know who their mentors were, they were told the mentors would contact the interns but they never did.... However other programs (organised events, buddy schemes etc) were very well organised.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They provided me with the proper training to perform well in my role. There was free online training available that proved valuable for both my role, but also the general idea of the J.P.Morgan culture. Also, the team members provided real time training whenever they had the time to spend explaining concepts to me.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I was offered a graduate placement as a result of the internship which I intent to take.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Several events were organised for us to be able to network and socialize with fellow interns, as well as graduates.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I had to commute to office for about 1.5 hours or maybe less than that, which added a bit to the cost of living, but it was acceptable and the company provided means of easing this process (company commuter buses).

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I am not much of a nightlife person, but the times I did go out with colleagues and interns, I was an awesome experience.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was a company social responsibility event, different sports events that employees could get involved in etc,.

    5/5
