    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Was interesting and challenging. Learnt a great deal about how the company operates and how the real world works. Great way to put theoretical knowledge of management and communication into practise.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I've always been treated well, all my questions have been answered and proper feedback of my work has been given.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Unfortunately my main line manager has been away a lot but his support managers have been a great help in directing my placement.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Quite busy. In early days it was trying to understand how things worked, at the end was constantly checking that my projects were working as they should and reviewing them to ensure they were up to the criteria specified.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I have helped share work when people have been away, I have been in charge of official targets and my work has been trusted to be the standard for the whole factory. Very nice to see my work been trialled.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It will help with project work and working with others. It will not necessarily help with my degree or my grades, but will definitely help with communicating in teams and getting things done in both my university and personal life.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone has always been happy and enthusiastic. Helping with my work and responding positively to good outcomes.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything was ready for when I arrived with a laptop and software installed. I began my induction with tours and explanations of how the company worked. Got a good insite in a very short time.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have been on several site visits, but only learnt about the company, no other developments or training.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Cannot be sure until my review.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were just two of us living in separate places so never really interacted outside of work.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • For the location and size it was very expensive. A large portion of my wage went to living expenses.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nothing.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Played in the company cricket team and went on a few team events. Was most enjoyable.

    4/5
