    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Degree skills are not largely applicable to the real world and vice versa, however my organisation and work ethic skills did improve.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There were particularly stressful times , however most of the time the atmosphere was great, again this does vary between team, I've seen some interns placed in team that do not talk to them.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • the organisation was okay but some interns were at a disadvantage with regards to the office that they were located in, making networking a challenge. Also I did not receive a mentor for any of the ten weeks.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They spent a lot of time giving us talks from senior members of the firm , basic training courses and of course lots of training on the job. For those that performed well a graduate job offer was made at the end of the internship.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • For those looking to move around within the firm, there are a lot of barrier deliberately placed to stop you moving around between tracks eg. from Finance to IB RIsk , however it is possible to move within you track eg Prime Services Operations to Market Rates Operations.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Most people took part in all of the networking events, we even met up outside of the networking events. Lots of us made new friends.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I commuted from outside of London so the only cost I had was travel (£340 ish per month with no rail/Oyster card from Leagrave to Blackfriars) however I believe that it was expensive for most.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As long as you have people in your network who know where to go, it's fantastic.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Charity events and networking events mainly, although there was a marathon.
