    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Everything was enjoyable. From learning new things about work to the social and networking opportunities that were arranged for us.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • There was weekly meetings with management to review performance and this was often a chance for management to keep us updated on our performance.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Weekly meetings, mid-internship review and final feedback meetings were all used to provide support and guidance. This was very useful. However, lots of the daily tasks were self-monitored. This is not a negative thing though.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Always busy enough to not be bored. As deadlines approached there were some very long shifts but this was expected. I was pleasantly surprised with how well balanced my working day was.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was working on a project management role where my reports were going direct to management with only a quick review from management. Responsibility increased with experience through the program.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Many life skills were learned. Time was allowed every week to study extra subjects using their skills database. Many useful courses, ranging from department or course information to personal development.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • All colleagues were very helpful and friendly. Good balance of friendlyness and work ethic. This helped me become more comfortable within the team whilst ensuring there is no distraction.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything was very well organised. Very few problems within the events.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I cannot think of any more that the firm could have done to support personal development. They provided the resources, allowed us the time and actively encouraged us to use the resources. This is encouraged throughout the company and is not limited to the interns.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been offered a job starting in September 2013 and cannot wait to return.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was fantastic. Networking events were regularly arranged and we were also encouraged to socialise with fellow interns outside of these.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London prices as expected. Expensive but not surprising.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Perfect for after work drinks. Weekends / big nights out were not as good. Not too far to travel to though so not an issue.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Apart from the networking activities there was not a huge amount available. This is not a bad thing though. For the perio of time we were there it would have been difficult to get much more involved.
