    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I worked in a struggling branch of Enterprise which was short staffed, short of vehicles and was not receiving nearly enough support from the area manager. Staff were over stretched and completely take advantage of and taken for granted.

    1/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The only good thing about working at Enterprise was meeting two colleagues who became great friends who I remain in contact with. There was however a big divide between area managers etc and the normal in-branch staff

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The training promised by Enterprise was what made me want to work there but after a week of induction training I realised that on a day-to-day basis there was never a spare minute to give staff a lunch break let alone work through their training and development.

    1/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Working 50-60 hour weeks with no lunch or coffee breaks is disgusting.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was often left alone in the branch to struggle along as best I could. This was not because my manager wanted to give me a new challenge it was simply because the branch was so short staffed.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt not to let large corporations break employment legislation unchallenged

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was tense because we never had enough cars to give people so there were lots of complaints, the office was also well overdue new carpet and a lick of paint so it was a pretty depressing environment for employees as well as customers

    1/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Nothing was organised well

    1/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company treated me very badly for example I was given no lunch breaks for the first 9 months of my placement, was expected to use my own car to take people out to collect company cars and it was also put across as my fault that training was not up to date even though i was out driving for 8 hours a day

    1/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 0/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would never work for them again or visit them as a customer

    0/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was not enough time for socialising when we were all working 6 days per week and 50-60 hours each

    1/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The town was a cheap holiday destination so there were plenty of cheap things to do

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I never went for a night out in that area

    0/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A couple of weekend go-karting trips were planned but most people had to work the Saturday and didn't want to give up their only free day of the week

    1/5
