    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Gave a great insight into the working life at Savills in London and what to expect if you are a successful applicant.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Able to have a good input in discussions and workload and also offer advice from previous work expereince placements. Mentor assigned to me throughout which allowed me to build up a good relationship and this in turn allowed for them to introduce me to other colleagues

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • One on one tuition throughout and everyone else happy to help out and offer work or even just a chat around thier area of work

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Given a large amount of work to do after initial few days once I was able to show I was capable.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Responsible for putting myself aruond to generate work and in return i was given some projects to help with and even wrote numerous reports that were sent to cleints

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Invaluable. A large area of experience gainsed in a variety of sectors which will greatly assist me goinhg in to my final year studies.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Large office space and people getting on with thier jobs. Not a sociable layout but then it is geared up for work! I was situated in the city office with only 3 other students while the other 20 odd students were in the west end office. This proved to mean we were a little isolated however the two offices are merging soon so this will not be a problem.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Seminar were put on to tell you about each area of the business. Socials were also put on to allow us to get to know each other. Lunch with the Directors to meet and greet and a mentor assigned to you throughout the duration who is a graduate therefore is best placed to offer adivce and expereince through the process.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The seminars were to mainly dicuss the areas rather than teach you how to do the role but were nonetheless very interesting. CPD was gleaned from speaking with colleagues and expereince in the day to day role

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There is not a single reason not to want to be part of the company!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Organised events and students tried to stay in contact but with the hours and effort put in to try and maximise the placement combining the two proved tiring. As mentioned previously, the split of offices didnt help.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London = expensive. £7 a pint and lunch time meals with colleagues who have lots of money is hard to keep up with although they did offer to pay or on expenses! Accomodation is hard to find nearby for cheap as the office is central and railcards also expensive to travle in. I ended up in student halls as it was during the summer time.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London is buzzing with nightlife and if you want you could socialise every night although this would not be possible with the long days combined!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Sports were talked about once you are fully involved but during the summer scheme this doesnt happen. Lots of chance to organise events if you wish or attend the planned socials
