    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed working the long hours and getting a chance to see how an investment bank is run.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As an easter intern, you are extremely junior. Most people don't know who you are. However your line managers and mentors are usually very helpful when they give you some time.

  • They dont have an awful lot of time for you. Your kinda all for yourself.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I usually had stuff to do. If I didnt I had to read through loads of journals. It was quite intense.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Quite a lot. I had to step up to the plate and deliver presentations twice within the two weeks.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt an awful lot about the business and the credit markets. I still remember this stuff to the date was very useful in understanding the cause of the credit crunch.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was good team ethic but most people were worried as there jobs were on the line due to the credit crunch.

  • Very well organised program. Throughly enjoyable.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were given two days of training and regular networking lunches. This was very useful to learn.

  • Good pay. Good opportunities.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good. I enjoyed this side a lot.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensives as its the City and London.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Sports teams e.g rugby and cricket on the weekend. Chances to be involved in charity events etc.
