    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Brilliant company to work for: great company culture; working environment; good level of responsibility and autonomy.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Part of the team from the beginning, given good level of responsibilty and opinions were valued by others.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • 4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some times I was busier than other times, generally it balanced out over time. Never felt under pressure to stay longer hours, it was my own choice if I did.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The right amount for that time. It was a year in which I developed lots of skills which I built on after I graduated. I was stretched throughout the year, but not in things over my head.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have already graduated, but looking back to my final year I was more motivated in my work, but at the same time I felt very ready to finish my studies. A placement year definitely equips you well for a graduate role.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Good fun and supportive. Great company culture!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Provided with some generic training as well as on-the-job as needed. 3M has a long history of bringing in placements, developing them and bringing them back as grads.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were a good number of other placement students in the company. We shared houses and regularly socialised together. It definitely added to the experience.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Not the cheapest area to live in, but the salary covered it.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Reading is not far away for clubs and bars. Wokingham was good for pubs.

    4/5

  • If you're into sport there are all sorts of clubs to join at 3M
