    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • ExxonMobil is a fantastic company to work for, they make you feel valued and the project you are given is actually a real problem it is not just a project made up for a student and then binned when you leave.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was very supportive and always helped when I needed it.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor was very good at 1:1 and helping us set weekly and long term goals, her organisation also meant that we never missed admin deadlines and became stressed about the project.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • With the team I was in, some days I was very busy and then others I was not quite so busy depending on whether people had provided me with the information I had requested or not but in general I was not bored or watching the clock! A few times, especially near the end, the days have flown past.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My project was purely mine and my partners and it was up to us to complete the objectives set. It was also important to know that we had handed over a good project so that it could be continued and developed to the next stage.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I become more confident in my technical abilities but aside from that I did not receive any more specialist training. It depended on the project you were given. I am now also more safety aware.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was only myself and my colleague in my office so when we were both working it was quiet but there were lively times as well.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very few complaints really. The organisers did a fantastic job.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They helped me dramatically improve my confidence and further enhance my communications skills. They also interview you so you get further practise there as well. We were also taken to many all inclusive evening events including pub quizzes, meals, bowling etc which helped enhance bonding within the group.
