    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The week was a fantastic opportunity to gain an invaluable insight into an investment bank. The talks we were given and exercises we completed were all very enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Although only there for a week, all employees of the bank were very approachable and friendly.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We didn't have personal mentors for the week, but the HR team who organised the week were very helpful.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The days were structured with a timetable given at the beginning of the week so there was always something to be doing.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Since it was only a week introduction to the bank we were given few responsibilities.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The spring week gives you a better idea of whether you would want to work in an investment bank, and if so which division you may want to be in.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The offices I work shadowed in were all hardworking and people seem devoted to their jobs, but everyone was still willing to take a minute to talk to you.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The HR team did a great job of getting a variety of divisions to speak to us and tasks for us to participate in. Timings were generally good although a couple of sessions ran over and cut the next one short. The two social events in the evening were well organised too.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Many employees came to speak with us, so in that sense a great deal of time was invested in giving us the best insight possible.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Everyone was very sociable and the bank organised drinks on the first night and dinner on another.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Bank of America provided fantastic accommodation for those living outside London.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Didn't get a chance to explore this fully.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Drinks on the first night to meet others on the spring week. Easy to meet up with everyone staying in the provided accommodation.
