The Role
Very good experience
At Rothschild even the most senior people assign projects to interns, something that does not often happen in other companies where the structure tends to be more hierarchical; people were always extremely nice and thanked me whenever I did something for them
Extremely friendly, supportive and also very honest
It fluctuated a lot; some days really busy and some days rather relaxed
Depends on the person giving you the job. More senior people generally gave me more responsibility to interns than more junior employees.
My accounting knowledge has improved considerably, other skills I developed include power point and excel, basic valuation techniques and communication skills
The Company
Rather quiet during the summer as a lot of people are on holiday, but we went for socials/ drinks regularly and team members were very close
HR put a lot of effort organising events/presentations/socials
Almost everyone at Rothschild stays at the firm for a very long time - there must be a good reason for this.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
It is challenging currently due to the economic environment
The Culture
The bank is rather small, everyone knows each other and even MDs remember the name of interns
Rather expensive
A lot of nice pubs/ restaurants
Volunteering, gym classes
