    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was given challenging work to do and contributed to a real project in my time.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • A lot of emphasis was placed on me in terms of what I wanted to do and get out of the internship. I was assigned both a buddy and a mentor who were my first points of contact for questions and assistance.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There were regular meetings and catch up sessions to ensure that I was on track and I was never left in the dark.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were peaks and troughs, but that is due to the nature of the work I was doing and there was always work found for me when a trough could be identified early.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was doing a real job and making real changes to a final application.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have gained a valuable insight into the application of what I've been learning at Uni so it has proven fo great use to me.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Hard work but generally everyone was very friendly and wanted to help/chat.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Apart from the intial teething problems that any new-start would go through, it was very well organised.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They assigned me an extremely experienced developer, effectively cutting her time out of the budget to focus on my work. We combined into "one" developer and could only contribute 3 hours per day to a task instead of the usual 5, so a massive amount of money and resource was invested in me.

  • Potential for 2 year graduate place.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We were given multiple chances to meet up with each other, and eventualy took it into our own hands as we became friends.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Plenty of clubs and teams available.
