    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Excellent for building technical skills, minimal supervision but enough to keep me on track. The only downside was the small number of socialising possibilities since they did not have many interns, and due to the office location.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very supportive and always there to answer a question.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • A lot of support, especially by the on-site development support team.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Flexible work, could start and leave pretty much any time (reasonably) as long as the required hours were done.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Complete control over my large and complex placement project, regular input and guidance from management if got stuck but the design and implementation was mine.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Very useful for understanding the software development lifecycle and building technical skills.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Atmosphere was good, had fun at times.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • HR and management had had a lot of experience placing interns before.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • If there was something I needed to learn I simply spent a week at my PC studying, and then applying it. Alternatively there were in-house C++ and more courses available.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Great socialising between colleagues at the nearby pub, not so much with the other interns.

    4/5

  • Cheap compared to central London.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
