    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have never had a full time job so i found the days quite long. However, the work i was given was really interesting, the people were great fun, and the scheme gave me a really good insight to the company and type of work they carried out.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was really accommodating and explained new theories at my level.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • People explained things very clearly and made it clear that they were available to ask if i didn't understand anything.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I pretty much always had work or something that i could be getting on with, but never was under pressure to get things done by a deadline.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given tasks to carry out but someone else would check what i had done and go through any changes that they had made (this was to be expected!)

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The scheme was more of an insight to the business and work they carried out rather than a training experience. My course is completely unrelated to the work i carried out, however, presentation practice will be useful.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • People generally tended tp have fun outside the office at lunches etc rather than in the office.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything was faultlessly organised.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company definitely didn't have a problem with spending time or money on me, i didn't feel like a hindrance at all.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We met up every lunchtime and went out every friday for drinks. There were also other social events organised.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The area was priced like an average city-there are cheap and expensive places available to visit.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The office is next to Broad Street, the main nightlife street in the whole of Birmingham! We are also in Brindleyplace which is full of upmarket places to eat and drink, with live music most days.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I played in a netball tournament for the company. There were also external bbqs arranged.
