Taking the role of a first year graduate in audit

    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have been given a brilliant opportunity in a global organisation, and have been treated as a graduate for the year, but it is incredibly difficult.


  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Staff in Aberdeen office are caring and interested in you as a person on the whole.


  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support is dependent on the staff you work with, some are great and some aren't. Even then, help can generally be found in the wider office.


  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Feast or famine for quite a lot of my year.


  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was treated as a full first year graduate throughout my year.


  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Skills I have learnt are increadible, being thrown in at the deep end has really given me a huge leap forward in experiences.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office in general is a friendly happy office.


  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Initially very badly with placement students having nothing at all to do for several weeks, but after this it has been very good.


  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I really feel I was invested in as a person, and given every opportunity for development.

  • Brilliant!

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • there is a focus on work hard play hard, so there are many social events organised to help with this :)


  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Aberdeen is an expensive area to live in.


  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Decent


  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are football and social committies to get involved with
