    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It provided me with an opportunity to get to see how Environmental Affairs operates within a large multinational company. During my placement I dealt with a vast range of topics and had exposure to many different areas of Environmental Affairs.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Environmental Affairs is a small team so I felt very valued and an integral part throughout my year.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Small team

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was a lot of emphasis placed on me to decide what I wanted to focus on and was able to use my own initiative to come up with my own projects.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given training courses in all the programmes that I used as well as other personal development and practical training. My manager explained a lot about the areas of work and involved me in meetings he felt would be of interest to e, even though sometimes I would not be directly working on that topic.

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Panasonic do not run a Graduate scheme but have taken back a number of previous placement students in the past. Environmental Affairs/ Energy is a growing area of the company so there may be a job in the future.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were a total of 15 placement students in the head office in Bracknell and 11 of those lived in houses across the road from each other in Reading so kept a student lifestyle outside of work.

  • Reading was very reasonable, rent was quite cheap

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Reading was a bit disappointing having come from University of Leeds but there is a big university here and a few bars and clubs in town so there is still an OK nighlife.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Depends how active you are, what activities you want to do. There are gym classes, football and badminton on site.
