I have very much enjoyed my time at Toyota. I have completed lots of different projects learning new skills and made some good friends along the way.
As a trainee I expected to not be valued but I was wrong. I became a part of the team and was given high responsibility tasks from colleagues.
Support was always given if required, but what i thought was the best part of the placement was being given the responibility to tackle jobs on my own.
Most days were busy, with new tasks always popping up to be completed. No day was ever the same, and there was always variety.
Lots of responsibility from the off were i was given my own projects to complete, these ranged from designing and manufacturing parts to installing new systems.
I believe the skills I have learnt will greatly benefit my future. My presentation and communication skills have vastly improved. I've gained a practical knowledge of manufacturing were I have seen real world applications of the theory learnt during my degree.
The atmosphere within my department was great, good team spirit and plenty of banter.
The 11 months were set up very well with the first week spent in the Learning and Development center lerning the fundementals of toyota. Several further training courses were set up through the year and quarterly reviews were undertaken to monitor progress.
There has been alot of time put into training and development from Toyota. Courses were enjoyable and engaging and coverd all non technical aspects that were required.

Aftrer 11 months here i would definetly come back as a graduate. I have had my placment extended another 6 weeks to take me up to going back to university. So i hope the chances are high.
We would often have social events with both placement and graduate students. Derby night life was fairly good.
Houseing was much cheaper than i was use to in oxford.
night life was good, lots of bars and clubs and normally busy.
