    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement was extremely enjoyable: I was given ownership of one peice of work and travelled across europe, as well as getting on with my team very well.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My collegues gave me a piece of work to own, and never gave me work for the sake of it, gave me work that was important and made sure that I knew where the work I was doing fit in the project as a whole.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager had prepared in advance documents to introduce me to the client, project and to my assignment. She was fantastic throughout whenever I had queries.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Owning my own piece of work meant that I could choose how busy or not I was on a daily basis, so long as the piece of work was deliverable by the end of the placement.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given full responsibility for the piece of work I did. I was allowed to put my own stamp on it, so long as it met the client's specifications.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A few days of training is never enough, but getting the basics of some of the Deloitte specific programmes did save a lot of time afterwards.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a good amount of office banter around, also because I was abroad the jokes continued after work too.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • When I came to Deloitte, my project was already sorted and my travel arrangements. My team had planned for my arrival and thought about my assignment.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company clearly spent a lot of time and money on the SVS interns, we worked hard and I personally racked up a large expenses bill. And we were well paid.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    International Travel

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • For strategy, the area I want to go in, the whole process must be completed again, but I am sure that my experiences with them will help. There is no exit interview for strategy, but a whole assesment process in September.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Among the fellow interns there was a good level of banter and worked hard to help each other out.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is an expensive place, but all deloitte events were paid for and we were well paid.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There is plenty going on however it can be expensive.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a number of sports competitions and summer events that we could get involved in if we wish.

    4/5
