    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I think we weren't given enough information or training on what was expected of us so alot of the time we had a huge amount of catching up to do. However, everyone was very friendly and encouraged us to learn alot.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Some of the colleagues I worked with have become extremely close friends, and we have met up regularly even after leaving the company. On the shorter-term jobs, I found more of my seniors were colder and didn't really want to get to know me, which is understandable since it was busy season and they had one thing on their minds: to get the work done as quickly as possible.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We were offered very little training or support by the establishment, and had to rely on private relationships within the firm to help you get through the work you had been set.

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most of the time we were struggling to keep up with the sheer amount of work we had waiting for us- but on occasion, seniors would disappear off into meetings and we wouldn't have anything to do the whole day.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was very surprised by how much they entrusted to us, from preparing entire sections of an audit file, to being asked to participate actively in very high-level meetings.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Definitely the elements of patience, persistence and continued strive for personal improvement will help me get through the next 7 years of my education!

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was always very quiet and work-focused. I felt very self-conscious if I had to raise my voice above a whisper.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very little thought has been given to the actual structure of the placement but some elements of it were very good.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They offered us minimal training, and the monthly support meetings I had were quite useless. But the private support I received from some seniors was invaluable.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I don't know if it's the line of work I want to go into, especially given the hours but I really like the firm.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Our group hit it off really well right from the start. Since 6 of us are all going to the same university, there are only more fun times to come!

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is expensive. But then we all knew that.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There's more of a pub scene than a club scene, but no one's complaining!

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Sailing and Diving were the ones I was interested in!

    3/5
