    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I support the Devices and Novel Actives Team in Product Regulatory Compliance. We landscape for all our devices and wellness and stimulation products in our markets as well as possible markets for us to move into. My Day to Day work usually involves liasing cross-functionally across the company to ensure that the regulatory requirements for our products are clear to product developers, fellow scientists and design teams. I also developed a search engine tool to make compliance documents more accessible for our internal stakeholders.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes I have, the new skill I developed was coding for Microsoft Suite - mostly with PowerApps and PowerBI. This enabled me to display data for our internal stakeholders in the most easy format for themselves, and helping our day to day processes become more efficient with more time savings. There have been many opportunities to improve my verbal communication skills. I designed and presented a poster, giving me the chance to clearly articulate both the technical aspects of my work and my personal development.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • My manager also gave me the autonomy to choose and manage my own project. This ranged from creating a timeline to ensuring that the project will be handed over correctly once I leave. I also chaired team meetings and chose my own topics to present at department meetings.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • A lot of support, which I was grateful for. At the beginning of the placement, as interns, we are assigned with a line manager, a buddy (someone in my department), a placement team mentor and a mentor within the company to help achieve my end of placement goals. Everyone is very supportive and we have multiple people that we can comfortably go to for guidance.
