Overview
Worked on live matters completing tasks for a supervising associate which were similar to those a trainee might be asked to complete. Attended a series of talks on a variety of opportunities the firm provides to trainees from a variety of employees. Attended several social events to get to know our fellow vacation schemers, future joiners, and members of the firm at all levels.
Skills
Learnt and developed several skills including: legal research, attention to detail, networking, legal drafting, commercial awareness, teamwork, communication, time management, client management, adaptability, resilience, and office etiquette.
Business Insight
I found learning about the business incredibly engaging, the opportunity to work on live matters and with lawyers with years of experience at the top of their field was very exciting and intellectually stimulating. Learning about the role of a trainee was also exciting, particularly seeing the close connections that trainees had with other members of the firm on top of the interesting matters they were working on.
Culture
Everyone at HSF was very friendly people at all levels of the firm made time to speak with me and were happy to answer my questions. I felt welcome and like it was somewhere I would enjoy working. Everyone was clearly also very committed to their work.
