Overview
Overall, the program was extremely insightful with loads of opportunities to meet Deutsche Bank employees at all levels. Also, the level of engagement that is encouraged from us (interns) and the Deutsche Bank employees had a big positive impact on the delivery of the programme.
Skills
The main skills I learnt at Deutsche Bank during this week were AI/ML foundational concepts and basic macro economics.
Business Insight
As Deutsche Bank has some resources that outline the different divisions and roles within the organisation, my knowledge of potential roles available was fairly good. However, this programme helped me gain deeper insight into the actual functions of each role, and how these roles affect the operation of the bank on a wider scale. One improvement I would make for future programmes would be to provide participants with summarised breakdowns of each session.
Culture
The overall culture and the atmosphere at Deutsche Bank seemed very positive. There was a big emphasis on the bank’s commitment to the progress of its employees by investing in development programmes and schemes. This was very encouraging to see.
Your Impressions
Although I enjoyed many different aspects of the programme, there were 3 that really stood out. Firstly, the programme was not only well structured, but there was also clear communication regarding how the programme was to be conducted. The second aspect was the level of insight provided relating to all areas of the organisation discussed. Lastly, the networking opportunities have allowed me to further my soft skills and will likely be beneficial for future opportunities.
Yes
For the application stage, make sure you know why you want to join Deutsche Bank, even when applying for spring weeks. For the actual programme, be ready to step outside your comfort zone, be inquisitive, have as much understanding of the organisation as possible, and take notes.
