Overview
I worked as a intern project manager and PMO, assisting the Change Directorate deliver projects to combat financial crime. This involved creating slide packs, reviewing documents, completing meeting minutes, and doing some data analysis.
Skills
I've acquired many skills during this internship, including data analysis using Excel, writing meeting minutes, presentation skills and general skills from working within a corporate environment. I have also developed my soft skills including stakeholder management, and developing personal brand through attending specific sessions.
Responsibilities
To begin with, I wasn't given much responsibility whilst I got to grips with the functions of the business. As I developed my confidence within the role, I was slowly given more responsibility and was able to take ownership of tasks, feeling like I could make positive contributions to the team.
Support & Guidance
We were given support throughout the internship from the Early Careers team. Our dedicated line managers also provided support along with my specific team within the Change Directorate.
Culture
The company culture was relaxed and friendly. The FCA encourages networking, asking questions, and learning from each other: qualities which I really like in a company.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the internship.
