Overview
Here's a breakdown of my typical day: In the Classroom and Small Groups: I provide academic support to students, working one-on-one or with small groups. Building Relationships: Creating a safe and trusting connection with my assigned students is crucial. Beyond Academics: My role goes beyond just academics. I might run after-school clubs like sports or homework sessions, all aimed at fostering a love of learning and building the students' confidence.
Skills
As a City Year Mentor, my days are filled with supporting students in school and beyond. I provide academic help, build relationships, and run after-school programs. It's challenging but rewarding, and I've grown a lot. My communication, relationship building, patience, and problem-solving skills have all improved. I've also become more organized, a better leader, and gained valuable experience to take with me into the future.

City Year UK goes above and beyond with support! We get weeks of training before diving in, plus an Impact Officer at our school for daily guidance. We also have a built-in support system with our fellow mentors, Bridge Builder mentors for career advice, and regular development days to keep growing. They really equip us to succeed as mentors and make a difference.
