The Role
A very enjoyable month, the HR team were fantastic in giving us a broad view of the company organising departmental talks and social events intergrating the interns and the graduates. I enjoyed my time at Savills immensely.
I felt like my colleagues appreciated my efforts and contributions towards the project I was set to do. I got along with them all well on a social level also, we often went out for drinks outside of work which was nice and made the office environment very relaxed!
I always had alot of work to do and was very rarely ever sat at my desk twiddling my thumbs which I thought was great as I prefer to be busy!
For the majority of my placement I was assisting my team with work for a project which included completing excel spreadsheets and mapping, however as my team were so busy with the project I never got the opportunity (not for want of asking) to be taken out of the office on any site visits, or have any of them site down with me and actually explain about what their department does and how it operates. Although I have learnt alot about the company throughout my placement, I feel I have learn very little about the department I was placed in and the sort of work they undertake! I do not feel like my knowledge of the real estate industry has been improved to any great extent.
The Company
The atmosphere was relaxed and fun, everyone was approachable and friendly and I found myself laughing an awful lot!
The programme was very structured which I liked, HR had organised various events throught the four weeks, including a mid placement review to check how we were getting on and to raise any issues, and an appraisal which was fantatsic to get feedback on my performance so I could improve on my next internship.
Although I felt the scheme it's self was aimed in enlightening you and attracting you to the firm, the work I was given to undertake and the efforts my department went to to improve my knowledge and involve me in other projects they were undertaking was limited! Obviously as an intern I expect to me doing basic sort of work but hope that it would be supplemented with the chances to learn about the department so I benefit too! I feel like I would of benefited greatly form getting out of the office and looking at the sort of sites and assets the department were dealing with and it would of increased my understanding of what they did, and how they worked! As a consultancy I am still unaware of the process gone through from the instruction to completition.

Savills is a brilliant firm and I would love to be a graduate here, I felt like the firm suited me well and hope that I have a successful application when I apply in October!
The Culture
We were all very sociable and I went out for after work drinks mostly 3 times a week, with other interns graduates and members of my department, I loved this side of the job and feel like I am leaving my placement with a lot of new friends, and contacts in the industry.
It was very expensive which is to be expected because I was based in London however because I was commuting in from outside of London this added to the cost significantly! The cost of my travel alone amounted to over half of the wage I recieved.
Being based in London the night life was fantatsic, you could go out for a drink every night of the week and still find amazing bars and clubs with lots of atmosphere and full of people!
There were endless opportunities from representing Savills in various sports teams, to drinks with colleagues/ lunches.
