    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a great opportunity to get to know the company and to find out about the different service lines. The exercises were interesting and challenging, and the entire day was essentially planned out.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • It was very easy to connect with the other interns and by the end of it it felt like I had gained several new friends.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • This was somewhat lacking (though it was a very short internship). There was some feedback after the first group exercise, but after the assessed exercise on the first day it felt as if we were doing the remaining group exercises purely for the sake of doing them; hardly any feedback was given.

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • An extremely busy 3 days with hardly much own time at all, but I still rate this highly because a lot of valuable information was conveyed and it was good to get an idea of what it might be like to work at a professional services firm.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • It was an insight internship, so there was no real responsibility to give as it was not an "actual" job, it was much more like a training course.

    1/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The group exercises were a great was of learning more about group dynamics with groups in which the members are strangers at first. Though feedback was scarce, the feedback that was given (particularly for the assessed exercise about a month later) was very useful in assessing my strengths and areas for improvement.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Lots of fun interns and interesting staff from PwC who were definitely up for a good time.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Nothing to complain here. Very busy overall, but well organised.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • For a 3 day course, the interns got a lot of value out of the placement. PwC emphasised several times that in an ideal world, they would take 100% of the interns on to a full-time position, because they had invested a lot in the placement.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If you pass all the assessed exercises, you are certain to get one of the less competitive jobs and you get a fast-track to final interview in everything else. Even if you don't pass the exercises, PwC doesn't just shut the door, the least you get is an invitation to another assessment day to get another shot.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All interns were sociable and fun people. The other interns I met on the placement were probably the most impressive aspect of my internship.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Everything was provided for by PwC; the only thing we had to pay was the trip to Latimer and you can get that reimbursed to you.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There was no nightlife, as it was a hotel in a small town. There would have been no time to go out during the internship anyway.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The 3 days were so busy, there was not much time to do anything else. There were however opportunities to socialise with the other interns after the days program was finished (around 9 or 10pm).
