    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been a fantastic year and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has the option to take a placement during their degree. The things you learn are above and beyond what any degree can teach you and will add so much to you as a person.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Within a few weeks I felt like any other member of the team. I was being given responsibility of other peoples accounts while they were away and was trusted and included as if I had been there for years!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone here is fantastic at supporting your development. I have had countless offers from peers and managers alike for help, advice or coaching in order to improve my own skills or to help me get involved with anything.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The workload was what you wanted it to be. You were given work but you could also go out and start your own projects or get involved with whatever took your fancy.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • By the second half of my placement I was solely responsible for customers and have worked on an account portfolio worth over £2,000,000

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt so much about the world of business. There was so much i had no idea when i started that will stay with me throughout my professional career.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • As me and my team were often out on site I would sometimes find myself alone in the team area, but this was rare and there was always other teams you could go and chat to, if you didn't have work to be getting on with of course!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was organised brilliantly. I can't criticise it at all.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was loads of training that was absolutly free! I sat several exams and got myself a MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) certficate.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It isn't easy. There are a lot of interns and not many Graduate jobs so the odds are tough. It is well worth it if you manage to get through it all though!

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was always something going on amongst the interns, and if there wasn't it took no time to set something up.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It isn't the cheapest as you might expect being so close to London, but the money earned working here more than covered it!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The city my university is based in is all about the students and therefore full of great nightlife. In contrast Reading is not the best. There are loads of pubs but if it's clubs you're after it won't take you long to have seen them all!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Microsoft is always doing things outside of the usual. For example there was an intern bikeride from Paris to Reading, not to mention loads of volunteering events that everyone can get involved in.
