    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Althought the work i did was interesting at times i had very little to do. My manager and team made an effor to keep me busy but it still wasn't always enought.

    1/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Intel have a very strict policy that everyone is treated fairly. Even as an intern you get treated with exactly the same respect as other employees and even share exactly the same office space as managers. I felt i was treated very well!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I often had to ask for jobs and things to do more than once. Although i was usually given work it was annoying having to ask for it all the time.

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Depending on project requirement i often found myself without enough work. However during the test stage of projects i had loads of work to do, it was just annoying it wasn't more evenly spread out!!

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt sometimes i could have been given more responsibility, some of the work i did had to be perfect first time, however there was some work i could have been allowed to do by myself.

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Some of ths skills i learn't on my placement will be very usefull in my degree and later in life. For i learn't to a good level both visual basic and labview programming language.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Was the sort of atmosphere you would expect in a large corporate business. However there were a lot of other interns on the same site and we had a good, fun community.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I joined my placement late (2 months after everyone else) and i didn't feel i was introduced to the job in a very professional manner. However this is probably due to my late start, other interns were all taken through a set induction together.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They sent me on a number of courses that cost the company a lot of money!! These taught me some very valuable skills which i will use later in life.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Working from home

    Healthcare from home

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would like to work for Intel again provided i had more responsibilty and more work.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • YES!!! The intern community was great!!!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I made the mistake of living in Bath (with old housemates) and commuiting by car everday. This was a big mistake as it cost me a lot in fuel!! Swindon is a very cheap place to live and nights out are cheap. If i could change anything about my placement it would have been my choice to live in Bath!!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Although Swindon is full of Chavs and Teenage Mums the nightlife is ok. There are a couple of clubs all of which have good drink promotions on during the week.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes loads!!! I didn't get involved as much as i had hoped because i didn't live in Swindon. There is a sport and social club and organise things most weekends (London Trips, Paintballing...etc) and there is also an Intern Comminity that does nights out...etc

    4/5
