    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • This really depends on the division you are put in. I was in the customer experience team and worked on providing suggestions on how we could make the overdraft public website more user friendly. The placement work is not suppose to take up all your time and there are other projects you get involved in as an intern.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt so many new skills like presentation, communication, teamwork, leadership etc. You will learn so much throughout the internship but like most things it depends on how much effort you actually put in.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given so much responsibility. For my placement I was in charge of the entire public overdraft website and it was up to me to find ways to improve the customer experience and present it to senior managers. Also you have other intern projects like the GROW challenge where you have £10 to make as much money as possible which I chose to be project manager for we have made more than £1500.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was
  • 5/5

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • There is so much support and guidance throughout the internship. You are given a GradCoach who is someone on the Grad scheme who is your mate and you can have an informal chat with. You have an OPM who is essentially a more formal version of your GradCoach and then you have your placement manager who you can reach out to. There is so much support and guidance in this internship.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Amazing, very relaxed everyone is so friendly and approachable. The culture in this bank is by far the best out of any of the big banks, it feels like a bunch of mates working together. 10/10
