    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I was based in the Development Viability Team, the work was varied each day, mainly looking for new build and second hand comparable properties. I used systems such as Molior, Co star and Rightmove Plus. I worked alongside people from all levels of the company from grads to directors. I was able to ask questions all day and felt very supported throughout. I also attended department overviews, walking tours and networking events which were a great opportunity to mix with other interns.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • My confidence has increased throughout the internship. I have learnt lots of new skills and increased my knowledge of the real estate sector. I can now use Molior, Co star and Rightmove Plus to find comparable properties which assist in report writing. I have also improved my networking skills and have more confidence to talk to more people from across the company. The department overviews also increased my knowledge and exposure to the different sectors within the company.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given responsibility from the start of the internship to contribute to real work for clients. I was given deadlines and able to ask for help throughout the whole internship but also allowed the freedom to explore what I wanted throughout internship and learn more about the company. All worked was checked by a grad or director but i still felt that my work was sent out to clients and I contributed to the team.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received lots of support and guidance, I had a mentor within my team who I could ask questions and he made me feel very welcome and part of the team from the start. The graduates in my team were also very welcoming and kept in contact throughout the internship to check I was ok. I also had a mid placement catch up with the graduate HR team to ensure I was settling in well to the company.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was very welcoming. within the first day I was invited to the Savills Summer BBQ with staff from all across the London offices. My team also took me out for lunch towards the end of my internship which allowed me to socialise with them in a more relaxed setting. I was part of a group chat with other interns so was able to mix with them during lunch each day and had the opportunity to go for drinks each week.
