  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The vacation scheme gave us a useful insight into what commercial law is all about, with various presentations on the different departments at HSF. On a day-to-day basis, legal research was conducted, legal notes were drafted and contracts were thoroughly read.

  • I have been introduced to the structure of legal notes, and have honed my legal research skills. Collaboration was also fostered, working in teams to complete various aspects of a legal task.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Arranging coffee chats with trainees, associates and partners were encouraged. A formal social event was also organised to network with partners over drinks and canapés. In addition, an event on diversity and inclusion made us more aware of how the firm supports those who are carers, including new mums and dads.

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Everyone was really friendly, at all levels of the firm! There is a great focus on diversity and inclusion, and the importance of pro bono.

  • I am drawn to the company culture, and it exceeded my expectations. HSF is known as being a friendly firm, but I think this is an understatement.
